Miss Shannon is incredibly excited to return to Infinity Dance for her sixth season! We are lucky to have her.
Shannon has trained extensively for over twenty years in jazz, tap, hip hop, modern, lyrical/contemporary, musical theatre, and RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) ballet and pointe at Bojangles Art of Dance in Kitchener. At the renowned Eastwoodsʼ Integrated Arts Program, Shannon was a dance, visual art, and vocals major, citing Janis Price as a major influence in her artistic studies.
Shannon holds an Education degree from the University of Western Ontario and an Honours Degree in Visual Art and History from the University of Guelph. She is an Ontario Certified Teacher in the Intermediate, Secondary and Junior divisions for Visual Arts and History. She recently upgraded her skills through additional qualifications courses in Special Education with Western and Dance Education with York University. Miss Shannon is an occasional teacher for the Upper Grand District School Board in their secondary division.
In 2015, Shannon became a certified teacher in Ballet and Jazz though Dance Master of Canada chapter #38. She is also a certified acrobatics instructor with Acrobatic Arts, and is excited to prepare her students for their acro exams this season!
Industry giants uder whom she has trained include So You Think You Can Dance Legends: Nick Lazzarini, Mandy Moore, Dee Caspary, Wade Robson, Tyce Diorio, Wade Robson, Everett Smith, Ray Leeper and Brian Friedman. One career highlight was having her group at the Jump Competition and Workshop in New York City being chosen to perform on the famed Radio City Music Hall Stage.
She has taught at and choreographed for several dance studios, private enterprises, and various public and Catholic schools, including Original Kids Theatre Company, Eastwood Collegiate, H.B. Beal, Dance Extreme, North London Dance Centre and Performance Dance Academy. Shannon founded and implemented dance programs: “Twinkle Toes” and “Fosse’s Flashmob,” as well as directed “Musical Madness” and “So You Think You Can Dance” camps at the Guelph YMCA and enjoyed offering classes to those children who were often unable to participate in formal training. She has been proud to have her students win various titles, overalls and special awards throughout Ontario dance competitions.
Miss Shannon loves the safe, friendly and welcoming atmosphere at Infinity Dance and cannot wait to start her third year of teaching with the students, parents and faculty at Infinity Dance!
