Ballet is the foundation of all dance disciplines and an essential ingredient in a well-rounded dance education. This art form has been an important part of society since the 15th century, and we are proud to pass on the beauty (and sometimes grueling training) of this wonderful tradition. Ballet introduces students to the beautiful dichotomy of concepts - posture, poise, effortlessness and grace on one hand, and turnout, endurance, flexibility and strength on the other. It could easily be argued that Ballet dancers are athletes disguised as angels!
Our unique ballet program is based on a thoughtful combination of several different syllabi including: The Royal Academy of Dancing or RAD (based in England), the Cecchetti method (based on the work of the Italian ballet master Enrico Cecchetti), the Vaganova method (based on the work of Russian dancer Agrippina Vaganova), and the Dance Masters of America ballet syllabus. These major traditions of ballet produce slightly different results, they have variations in their methodology, different lexicons, as well as their own look and feel. Using all three methods, our program produces well informed ballet dancers.
